Dr. Adriana Odachowski, DVM
Dr Adriana Odachowski grew up in Bogota Colombia. Following her father steps and a family tradition since the 1800's, she always wanted to be a veterinarian. Graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2000, Dr Odachowski moved to the United States in 2001 where she was awarded her United States Veterinary Certification from the American Veterinary Medical Association in 2005, after successfully completing an intense test and evaluation process; a qualification very few foreign veterinarians are able to attain. She is an active member of AVMA, FVMA, Board member of HCVMS,Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary Board of Directors, served at the Animal Advisory Commitee for Hillsborough County for over 2 years and recipient of the Gold Star Award 2016 by the FVMA for outstanding contributions in the advancing of veterinary medicine in the State of Florida. President of the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation and former President of the Colombian Volunteer Ladies of Tampa Bay. Dr. Odachowski speaks English, Spanish and French fluently. Doctor Odachowski resides in Lutz, Florida with his dog recently adopted Gizmo, an American Bulldog/ shar pei mix . Dr Odachowski enjoys a healthy lifestyle with scuba diving, road biking, hiking, playing the piano, reading, drawing and giving back to the community any way she can. She particularly enjoys inspiring future generations to pursue their veterinary dreams and professes deep love for the Veterinary Profession. “I came to this world to be a veterinarian, I cannot imagine my life doing anything different, animals are my passion in life” Adriana Odachowski.
Dr. Carlos Saavedra, DVM - Retired/ Relief Veterinarian
Following his father's steps, he studied Veterinary Medicine graduating from the University of Madrid in 1972. Prior to these he was involved in clinical laboratory and had the labor Director's License. When he was working with veterinary poultry in his native Cuba, he realized that he wanted to practice with small animals, more specific "pets that respond". After graduated, he worked as an Associate Veterinarian in Hillsborough and Pinellas, before taking care as an administrator and Veterinarian at the SPCA of Largo, where he devoted his next four years.
Dr. Saavedra opened his practice in 1979 for small pets in General Practice, at that time there were no specialists available in the area. He has been practicing veterinary for more than 30 years.
Dr. Saavedra has always been involved in the community, either writing small articles in different newspapers or having informative radio programs. He was President of the Hillsborough County Veterinary Medical Society for two consecutive terms and Board Member of the Humane Society and also Member of FVMA, HCMVS, AAHA, AVMA and HAHF.
Dr. Saavedra lives with his wife, Maria. He enjoys going to the beach, doing carpentry work and travel in his spare time. He also enjoys spending time with his son, granddaughters, and his wonderful and loquacious daughter-in-law. Doctor Saavedra has officially retired but continues to be an important support to Wellswood Animal Hospital.
Gustavo Giovannetti, Owner
Gustavo grew up in Venezuela. Following his father Raul Giovannetti and his older brother steps, he knew since his childhood he would become a veterinarian. An Universidad Central de Venezuela Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 1996 graduate, 5th place out of 117th graduates; Dr Giovannetti came to the United States in 2009, seeking to find a better future for his family of four, was reunited 9 months later with his wife and kids. In 2011 Dr Giovannetti met Dr Odachowski and Dr Saavedra setting the beginning of a strong friendly and professional relationship to this date. Currently, Doctor Giovannetti as the owner of Wellswood Animal Hospital share his time between running the Hospital (with his wife's support) and working hard to obtain his Certification as a DVM in the State of Florida. He resides in New Tampa, with his wife Rosalba, his kids, Gracie and Raul and a miniature Schnauzer, Leo. Gustavo is a runner, started for medical reasons but became a passion; ever since and over a year later, he's lost 55 lbs and his health has made a complete turn around. He also enjoys growing Bonsai trees, road biking, running in 10k races, half marathons and participating and supporting his kids in their activities like soccer (Raul) and dance (Gracie).
From Guines, Habana Cuba. Obtained his DMV in 2008 from Agrarian University of Habana ( UNAH) and a MSc in Microbiology. He worked in Mycoplasma diagnostic techniques and molecular techniques at CENSA institute and has published many papers. He moved to Tampa in October 2013; Yoe is professionally driven and wishes to perfect his English and technical skills, in order to one day, be able to practice veterinary medicine in the US. He works as a technician at Wellswood Animal Hospital.
Originally from Uruguay. A true animal lover. She is our receptionist and enjoys being a mom ! She lives in Tampa with her son Nathan and her dog Peluche.
